Predictions for the Sundance 2014 Awards (Because, Why Not?)
Here are a few predictions for tonight’s awards ceremony. By the second Saturday of the fest, there are competition standouts that make a fest-goer 65 - 70% sure of the major category winners. This year, I feel about 20% sure. Which is good! A majority of the movies I saw at this year’s festival were somewhere on the good-to-great scale. And movies that one person adored, another loathed — that’s a good thing. I personally don’t want a movie I love to be universally accepted. I’ll explain that feeling another time. Anyway, without a frontrunner in any category, here are a few blind picks for tonight’s awards (made because it’s a silly guessing game — had to leave out a lot of films I loved off this list). Thoughts?
